Covid-19 Mask Initiative

The Covid-19 pandemic has seen a rapid spread of the virus in our population and strained our health, community and business sectors. The Port Credit Community Foundation (PPCF) has taken the lead on a number of community endeavours providing support to front line staff at the hospital, seniors, vulnerable populations, the cultural sector and local business initiatives.

One of PCCF’s local initiatives has been to provide non-medical masks to seniors’ residences, communities and homes and to various organizations working with the most vulnerable in Port Credit, Lakeview and Clarkson. Building on an already industrious community of volunteers producing masks to generate donations to the Compass Foodbank and other efforts in the community, PCCF began the coordination and distributions of masks in April. Dedicated and committed volunteers have washed, cut, sewn, ironed and delivered more than 700 non-medical surgical pleated masks for folks to date.

The Bord of Directors of PCCF, an organization very close to its community roots, has been astounded at the outpouring of community volunteer efforts to make sure this endeavour is a success. We would like to thank Kat, Veena, Joanne, Karen, Noelle, Valerie, Cathy, Toni, Katherine, Marg, Valentina, Manraj, Nicole and Fred for their valuable contributions.
